Worship songs to replace the current crop in Western Christianity

6 Feb

This song is best done in the cadence fashion that the video is about. I welcome readers feedback on this one:

We are warriors marching into the night.
(troop repeats)

Led by our Captain  Jesus Christ
(troop repeats)

We wear the armor of righteousness
(troop repeats)

We wear the sandals of peace
(troop repeats)

We are protected by the shield of faith
(troop repeats)

From the flaming arrows of our enemy

(troop repeat)

The helmet of salvation on the head

(troop repeat)

We are armed with the sword of the spirit

(Troop repeat)

Engaging our foes on the field of doom

(Troop repeat)

The powers that be invisible

(Troop repeats)

We take our stand back to back

(Troop repeat)

We die standing strong in the faith

(Troop repeat)

And the glory and fame of the Lord proclaim

(Troop repeat)

Ashes to ashes dust to dust

(Troop repeat)

To enter the hall where heroes reign

(Troop repeat)

Glory, Glory to the Holy God

(Troop repeat)

The Root of David the Lion of Judah

(Troop repeat)

Devourer and conqueror of Death

(Troop repeat)

Did you write the lyrics above? It is a great rousing army-style chant, though slightly more musical than a pure chant.

Yes I got a flash of inspiration that compelled me to write this song I got somehow inspired so to say this morning and I wanted to write a song for men that is appropriate for the worship of god.

You should capitalize the name God, always.

        Good stuff!

A song most appropriately sung by an all male fraternal troop.

It would sound great, I’m sure.

If the song can be improved I will welcome any suggestions.

Now the problem is putting them to an appropriate tune.
